San Luis Obispo County's Edna Valley, along with the rolling hills of Paso Robles, are increasingly giving Napa a run for its money with world-class wines. You may be tempted to linger at the Apple Farm, one of the best hotels in the area, but you will surely want to visit Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or our historic mission, and sample fresh produce at our farmer's market...and don't forget our wineries! Spend an afternoon exploring the verdant San Luis Obispo countryside.

Claiborne & Churchill,2649 Carpenter Canyon Road (Route 227), (805) 544-4066. Ask about the unique straw bale construction of this wine cellar. $5 tasting fee, open 11-5 daily.

Shadow Canyon Cellars, 846 Higuera Street, (805) 781-9400. Tasting room located in downtown San Luis Obispo. Open Wednesday - Sunday.

Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, 178 Suburban Road, (805) 594-1318. Tasting room open 11-5 Saturdays and Sundays.

Kynsi Winery, 2212 Corbett Canyon Road, (805) 544-8461. This is a small winery offering six wines to taste for $5. Open 11-5 Thursday through Monday.

Talley Vineyards, 3031 Lopez Drive, Arroyo Grande, (805) 489-0446. Open 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Wine tasting, $6 tasting fee, gift shop.

Domaine Alfred, 7525 Orcutt Road, (805) 541-9463. Open for wine tasting Thursday-Monday, 10-5. There is a charge of $6.

Baileyana, 5828 Orcutt Road, (805) 597-8200. It is a must-stop, with wine tasting in a renovated old schoolhouse, outdoor picnic facilities, and a delightful assortment of whites and reds. 10-5 daily.

Edna Valley Vineyard, (805) 544-5855. Open 10 am to 5 pm daily with tours of the winery and winemaking process available on the weekends.

Tolosa Winery, 4910 Edna Road, (805)782-0500. $5 tasting fee. Open daily 11-5.  

Salisbury Vineyards, 6985 Ontario Road in Avila Valley, (805)595-9463. Open daily 11-6pm.  

Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards, 1947 See Canyon Road, (805)595-9700. Taste their apple wines! Open daily 11-5:30.  

Laetitia Winery, 453 Laetitia Vineyard Drive in Arroyo Grande, 888-809-VINE. Open daily 11-5. 

In addition to the beautiful wineries located in San Luis Obispo's Edna Valley, the Central Coast has another thriving wine region 30 minutes to our north in the Paso Robles area. Here are just a few of our delightful North County wineries:

Wild Horse located on 1437 Wild Horse Winery Court in Templeton, 805-434-2541, is open daily for tasting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rotta Winery, 250 Winery Road in Templeton, (805)237-0510. Open daily 11-5. Visit their newly reopened tasting room.

Castoro Cellars is located on 1315 N. Bethel Road in Templeton and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It features a grape arbor and a variety of red and white wines to taste. 888-326-3463. 

Donati Family Vineyard, 2720 Oakview Road in Templeton, (877)511-WINE. Open daily 10-5.

Doce Robles, 2023 Twelve Oaks Drive in Paso Robles, (805)227-4766. Small boutique winery open daily for tasting 10-5:30.  

Lone Madrone Tasting Room is open daily 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. 805-238-0845. It is located at Sycamore Farms, 2.5 miles west of Paso Robles on Hwy. 46 West.

Sylvester Winery and Vineyards is open daily, in winter 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and in summer 11 a.m.-6 p.m. It is located on 5115 Buena Vista Drive, off of Hwy. 46 East in Paso Robles. 805-227-4000.

Eberle Winery, 3810 Highway 46 East in Paso Robles, (805)238-9607. Features tours of their wine caves. Open daily 10-5. Complimentary tasting.  

Vina Robles, 3700 Mill Road in Paso Robles, (805)227-4812. Very large hospitality center that was constructed in a California Mission style. Open daily 10-5. Complimentary Estate Tasting.

Robert Hall Winery, 3443 Mill Road in Paso Robles, (805)239-1616. Tours of winemaking facility available. Open daily 10-5.   

EOS Winery, 5625 Highway 46 East in Paso Robles, (805)239-2562. Complimentary tasting. Mediterranean Marketplace. Open daily 10-5.
